Tesco home insurance from a comparison site - glitches quirks.

I've just taken our home insurance with Tesco, through Confused, through Top Cashback (for £35 pounds back I hope).
I'm familiar with needing to check all information from the comparison site has transferred correctly, most had, the only information error I found was on confused it appeared one could set different voluntary excesses for home and for contents but on Tesco it seems they have to be the same.
More surprising was that changing my options in almost (not the fixed price extras) any way reduced the premium confused said I'd get with Tesco so adding accidental cover reduced the premium, as did reducing the voluntary excess. Though after 10 minutes tinkering I got what I think is the best price £50 less than confused said it would be (about a 20% reduction); in the end no accidental damage cover and £300 voluntary excess (when I tried £350 and £400 the premium went up slightly and didn’t want a much higher excess anyway). Not sure I'll ever understand the 'whys' of this but £50 saved for an extra 10mins seems good to me.

So you removed AD, one of the most common claimed sections, in exchange for a 20% discount?0
