As you have the will, is it worth banding together with other beneficiaries to seek advice? That should reduce cost, plus may be harder to ignore.

In case anyone is still reading this.

Does anyone know if I have any rights to see what has happened to the trust? I want to be able to cover myself if other members of the family suggest that I benefitted from this trust when I have been lied to and then ignored since asking questions about it.

Don't mind paying a little amount out of my own pocket if I have to go down the solicitor route, but obviously don't want to throw money away at the same time.

If this is your main concern, personally, I'd print a copy of the will, highlight the parts about the descretionary trust, and then attach a letter stating...

To whom it may concern.   At the time of writing, I have received no benefit from the aforementioned trust.

File this document with your other effects and get on with life.   If things change, and you do ever receive anything, update the letter.

Also attach any official correspondence you have from the solicitor who confirmed the Trust situation to you.

If family pester you, just tell them the truth.  If they don't believe you, that's their problem.
