E.ON Next Drive Tariff - Technical Difficulties

Since joining E.ON Next Drive Tariff (designed for EV owners) on 22nd Aug, I have had no bill and no update of daily use on my app. Just spoke to E.ON Next as they are having 'technical difficulties'. Anyone else having the same?

Just come out of an ombudsman battle with E.ON Next (I won, and quite rightly so), and realise they are completely shambolic and incompetent, so don't trust them as far as I can throw them. But I need the 7 hours of granny charge overnight. I have taken photos of my meter readings every night and morning I charge the car.

If you are on the same tariff, have you been billed and can you confirm you have been billed correctly?

I started on the Sainsburys Energy equivalent tariff at the end of September.

I was told I would be billed on the anniversary of starting the tariff every month.

On the 1st October, they took money from my energy account for gas and electric charges. Havent had a bill yet.

Anniversary is 22nd October so will see if I get a bill then

I was told I would get a £150 voucher off of an EV charger, still waiting for that

Switch to Octopus, get a wall box & use intelligent tariff.

I don't have off-street parking, but mainly get a space outside my house.

Seven hours of granny charging gets me nearly 50 miles of driving, and I only drive 16 miles per day. Why would I want to spend up to £1k to get a charging point when granny works well for me, as long as I get seven hours.

I got a smart meter installed on 22nd August and switched to the E.on Next Drive tariff about a month later.  I have had no invoice since my smart meter was installed and no meter readings shown online since I switched.  My understanding is that the half hourly data used to calculate the Next Drive bill is stored for a long period of time so E.on Next should be able to catch up when they sort themselves out.

According to the Octopus website you dont necessarily need a wall box if you have a compatible car!

A bit of development on this...

They sent me screenshots of the bills they could see their side today, what they had done was taken my usage between the two rates and calculated that in monetary value.
For some reason they then took the average rate and calculated the monetary value and rounded it up!

I emailed them back and asked why, they basically said wait and see what happens.

Ive since emailed them back to tell them I am moving to Octopus.

I can't get bills, constant chasing, customer service don't know anything about the tariff so cant help & I can't see my half hourly usage with Sainsburys so I am moving. Octopus is cheaper too

Octopus have secured me a 12 month gas fix which is cheaper than the Sainsburys rate. I will be switching to the intelligent tariff once the switch is done for the electric. Only downside is 4-8 week lead time but they can put me on the Economy 7 tariff in the meantime, not sure if I will do this yet or just stay on variable until I get onto intelligent due to higher daytime unit rate.

Oh and I am getting the £50 refer a friend bonus which is paid a day after the first payment is taken.

I got the £150 ev charger voucher but its only valid in October & the cannot do a full quote until 8 week times due to current demand...

Shame it had to end this way really as when I was on my 2 year fix with Sainsburys (ended end september 23) I never had an issue with them.

But you will be charging at a really low rate.
Hope the sockets & wiring are up to high load over a prolonged period.

    7kW isn't a "really low rate".

Hope the sockets & wiring are up to high load over a prolonged period.
Do you have any reason to think their wiring won't be up to it? Because if not, you're scaremongering.

If they do not have a wall box then they will not get 7 kWh..

Well I would not to run 10 AMP load on unknown wiring for hours. If you think it's scaremongering fine. Personally I see it as common sense to get it checked & a proper set up, before anything else.

I have run a granny plug of a 13 amp socket for a couple of hours on a known quality connection. Surprising how warm the socket & plug get.

I took this to mean you don't need a compatible wall box if you have a compatible car.  Octopus don't give you enough charging time to make much headway with a "granny charger".
