If your mother is under State Pension age she would be able to claim Bereavement Support Payment if she married or formed a Civil Partnership with your father. Cohabiting partners can only claim if they are currently in receipt of child benefit, or are pregnant. There is a one off payment of £2,500 then a monthly payment of £100 for 18 months.
