DRP but already started paying

I’m writing for advice on the classic Europarts ticket and DRP threats of court.
My partner had his car stay a couple of hours over at a supermarket carpark, this was when he was at the We Buy Any Car as they’re based there. Got the £50 fine, which went up to £100 after he ignored it. He then got the DRP letter in for £170 and freaking out, called and started paying the debt monthly.
He’s paid one instalment, and I’m not sure what he should do now? We live in Scotland, so not sure how that differs to Englands rules.
Should he cancel the future payments?

Edit: Euro PARKS0

Yes just stop paying immediately.
It's Euro Car Parks. Completely benign in Scotland. Nothing would have happened. They can't send bailiffs.
Re the debt collectors, you are paying a scam. No idea why people do, especially the ludicrous sum of £170. Only about 15% actually pay because they are scared. Stop.
In Scotland you were never going to be sued. Stop the payments straight away.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Was the car park in Scotland?2

you have been tricked Into thinking this is a fine and needs paying. is not a fine, so stop paying it.
Please read the sticky threadFrom the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"4 -
FUBAR, SNAFU... take your pick!
@libertine85, please ask your partner to read the Newbies/FAQ thread. If you're advising them, read it yourself.
Put an immediate stop on the payments to the DRP scammers. You can try and have the bank reverse the Direct Debit as you are being scammed. Funding these scammers just empowers them and marks you as a "mug" for future reference.
For future reference, for the time being, if you or your partner ever get another parking charge in Scotland (it is definitely not a "fine") just ignore any correspondence. Do not identify who was driving, under any circumstances as the registered keeper cannot be held liable. They have no clue as to who was the driver unless you tell them.3 -
As said STOP PAYMENTS you are being sammed
DRP are well known money scammers and you NEVER owed £170
DRP will know doubt get the hump and make even more threats but that's not a problem
They will be a card merchant, probably via their bank.
We know and you know that the letter you received from DRP was menacing, threatening and misleading.
Companies who accept card payments are bound by T&C's which do not include accepting payments by menacing, threatening, misleading means. DRP could lose their merchant facility and that information is passed to all banks
Go to your bank or card provider and tell them to cancel and the reason why ?3 -
