Part of the problem as I understand it is that a number of vehicles are completely undamaged so there's no claim possible. Except that because they are parked in an unsafe structure they cannot be removed and will likely be destroyed in the demolition of the building.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. powergen_insider saidYou couldn't claim off the car park for your excess if someone opened their door into your car, this isn't really any different.
Which is a shame because that might force them to make decent size spaces with painted gaps between them.

Personally I'd rather take the risk of a(nother) small scratch on my door.

Of course they will, that's how insurance works. The rest of their customers will subsidise the gesture.
There's no plausible mechanism for the owners of the cats to be compensated which doesn't involve the costs ultimately being passed on to consumers, either through insurance prices or through car park prices.1 -
I wouldn't mind fewer spaces if they were larger. As for costs being passed to consumers, it's not a given. They can't raise prices indefinitely. Also, it matters which consumers.0

We went there today. We already knew from insurers that all cars would be written off, but spoke to a couple of the men working there and they confirmed it.
Some cars look relatively intact. They are going to remove some that are salvageable, but even they have water damage and probably heat damage.
I've been hoping since last week that we would be lucky, sadly today confirmed we are right in the collapsed zone.2
