Is it worth having alloys repaired before selling?

How much is the car worth, How much to refurd the wheels.2k car, £200 refurb does not add up.0

If you're trading it in, the dealer will be able to get the alloys refurbished more cheaply than you can.1

I'd just give them a good clean. If really ingrained with brake dust, buy Wonder Wheels cleaner, which is an acid.
The most cost effective thing you can do is give the car a thorough clean. Hoover the inside, empty ash trays etc
There are diy refurb kits on Amazon but they get really bad reviews.0 -
How are you selling it?
Private sale - people under estimate repair costs so dont
Main Dealership - can repair them much cheaper than you
Specialist buyer - depends on how good a negotiator you are, but then you can see the difference in quotes between with damage or not with the online tools.0 -
I would concur. As the car is being traded in, the dealer will be able to get them fixed more cheaply anyway.prettyandfluffy said:If you're trading it in, the dealer will be able to get the alloys refurbished more cheaply than you can.0 -
Thanks for the reply’s. Car is worth around 12/13k, and will more than likely be traded in at another dealer. Will have a look at some of the DIY products mentioned0

i think you'd be wasting your time and money with DIY products.sufcboy said:Thanks for the reply’s. Car is worth around 12/13k, and will more than likely be traded in at another dealer. Will have a look at some of the DIY products mentioned
If the wheels need refurb'd they need refurb'd (ie, they're scuffed). A DIY fix will look like a DIY fix.0 -
Hi I sold a roughly £9k car to Arnold Clark 2 years ago when getting a motability car and the garage i got it from said they weren’t buying then due to covid?
there were 2 slightly scuffed alloys and they took £75 each off buying price for them0 -
Feels like the price of a wheel powdercoated refurb each. I dont think you'd have got two wheels powdercoated for any less.chapea said:Hi I sold a roughly £9k car to Arnold Clark 2 years ago when getting a motability car and the garage i got it from said they weren’t buying then due to covid?

And they'd have still been looking to do that even after a DIY touch in.0 -
