Is it sensible to delay getting a car serviced to save money, if it has low mileage?

I only do about 4000 miles a year, but have it serviced annually in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. IMO scheduled servicing is even more important for low mileage cars.0

Depends at what age you're going to sell the car. At 10 yrs old the difference in value between a FSH and a partial SH will be relatively small. Do a 'what if' check on webuyanycar.com and see what the difference is. Extending service intervals to 18 mths rather than 12 mths won't hurt the car at all and wouldn't bother me as a potential buyer. Also, I'm conscious that all garages and dealers say that you should stick rigidly to the (unnecessarily) frequent intervals - they would say that, wouldn't they! Synthetic or semi synthetic oils really don't degrade much in two years. And brake fluid doesn't need changing every two years in the UK.prettyandfluffy said:It's worth having it done as per the stated service intervals and by a Honda dealership if you intend to trade it in or sell it on, it adds a lot to the value and ease of sale.2
