That's scary, frugalmacdugal. When I replied to the email I revealed my old, seldom used, email address and my current email address but not my passwords.
Is it reasonable to think the scammer, who must have had access to the lady's contact list to get my old email address in the first place, cannot access any of my emails without my passwords - the two email addresses have different passwords.
As you say - good to change my passwords.
Thanks.1 -
I let my browser suggest strong passwords. These are generally 10+ random digits/characters, completely unguessable except by a brute force attack. The browser remembers them for me. The only password I have to remember myself is the one linked to the browser.Chrome has this feature, and probably most of the others. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1

Seems to me that your first thought on receiving any text, call or email is that it might well be a scam and work onwards from there, not doing anything until you're sure it's OK.
It's a bit like when doing first aid when the very first thing you do is "check for danger"1
