A cake! Oooohh that sounds very good to me! I just fancy a bit of cake and a cuppa :T

Well, that turned into a mission and a half!
I found I only had a tablespoon of sugar left so had to go to the supermarket which was rammed and all the checkouts were full.
So an hour later, I made some cranberry sauce, which boiled all over the stove when I turned my back on it!
It's very nice though, I think it would taste good in a victoria sponge or something, it's a bit jammy like. Quite pleased with it!

    Hi barneysmom,

There's an earlier thread with some ideas for using up fresh cranberries that may help so I've added your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.

    Hi all,

I have been given nearly 2kg of Cranberries (out of someones freezer!) and would like to make some preserves with them.

I used to help my Mum make jam when I was little, but have never tried it by myself.

Sooo, this afternoon I tried to make a batch of Cranberry Jelly. Major mistake in that I misread the instructions for my recipe and added sugar whilst stewing the fruit, then had to try and strain the sticky fruit then re-boil it. Added more sugar cos I figured I must have strained some of it away, no idea how much, and tried to get a set. After about two hours work I have ended up with less than two jars of goodness knows what! So annoyed with myself!

Anywho, thought you lovely lot might have some ideas for what to do with the remaining 1.5kg that even I couldn't fail with!

    Thanks in advance...

I bought some cranberries to make my mince pies but I only needed a few so I have quite a lot left. Does anyone have any nice recipes that could use them up?

I'm not keen on cranberry sauce and my only trustworthy recipe website keeps crashing so thought I would ask on here.
    Thank you :)

  • Last year I made cranberry and White chocolate muffins, yummy! Cranberry and orange cheesecake, cranberry and coconut bread, or you could just freeze them till needed.
