Best masking tape for emulsion wall.

I'm looking for a good masking tape for a wall that has lining paper which has been painted with Dulux matt emulsion. I need to retouch part of the paintwork without doing the whole room and want to mask it off.

Ideally the tape will not pull off any of the existing paint or paper when removed.

I've used Frog tape on delicate surfaces in the past. Even although the adhesive isn't as strong as many other tapes, it still pulled some of the substrate away. Found warming it up with a hot air gun helped to soften the adhesive and aid removal.
For small areas, I'd suggest pressing a cheap jointing knife up to the section that needs masking, and carefully lift it away once the paint has been applied. Something like this - https://www.screwfix.com/p/magnusson-taping-jointing-knife-10-250mm-/650pr

Why do you want to mask it off?

It's totally unnecessary however you need to be careful touching up walls as brush mark over rolled walls shows up and you might have an issue with flashing depending on the age of the paint

Has the wall been damaged and you have repaired it ? If so only touch up the damage and feather it to blend it in

If you do use masking tape do remember to take it off as soon as you have painted don't leave it on till the paint dries as you will have paint run behind it and paint pull off on removal.

I've used the pink masking tape before, but whilst this was very low tac I see to recall it did allow paint to seep underneath.  I am not sure I would be brave enough to use any kind of masking tape on paper that was painted!

I used green frog tape but found it pulled off some new paint but was ok with old paint. Then I switched to the yellow, less sticky, version and it worked well.

Thanks. I've looked on their website and I think yellow is the way to go.

Yeah you don't want to mask off, if you're patching paintwork you need to feather it in or it'll stick out like a randy bulls, tail.

Now that made me giggle! Much better way of putting it than I did!
