Old Threads/posts

How do I go back into old threads? One can access 12 "pages" of the last posts made by someone or a couple of pages of the last threads started by someone readily - but, for instance, when I thought I'd like to see a thread someone mentioned they started in 1999 I couldnt find a way to do so - as 2007 ones seem to be the last ones covered.

Know there must be some way/somewhere - but blowed if I can figure it out.

Not sure, did they ever retrieve them after the data loss glitch?

Are you sure the post was made in 1999? According to the members list, MSE only started in 2001 (Martin is registered as 2001, but after that the next member is 2003?) x

I think searches on Usernames limit at 12 pages of results.
If you do a Global search of all MSE Boards it will often limit to 12 pages.

If that does not go back far enough, you can select individual boards to search, which is less likely to limit at 12 pages & should go back further.

Ps: Doing some tests, I'm not sure the Search function is working correctly.

If you go to the Advanced Search you may be able to get what you want.

eg for your older posts:

In username field type: ceridwen
then change it from Any Date to 6 months ago and Older
Finally change it to Show Results as Posts

Hi ceridwen,

As far as I understand it the website was only set up on 20th February 2003 so it's unlikely that you'll find any posts from 1999.

As far as I am aware MSE lost a lot of earlier threads during the DDOS saga, although MSE managed to salvage some of the thread history, a lot of threads were lost.
