            Is it a scam, I don't know
Would I use them? No you can do it for free via HMRC which would be the exact same process as through this company

Did you contact them or did they contact you? Are they asking you for £ for a specific service?Eyewearman said:Helpmytax have asked me for NI numbers to claim back marriage tax allowance Is this a scam or genuine? Thanks
As above, applying for the marriage tax allowance is fairly (or even very) easy.0 -

No one can "claim" Marriage Allowance. The person agreeing to have a reduced Personal Allowance has to apply and they won't be getting a refund.
Why would you pay someone to try and do something that is impossible 🤔0 -

Er, yes they can. These people ask you for your details, fill in the form for you, and charge you £x for 5 minutes work. Not a scam, per se, but a tax on the lazy or ignorant.Dazed_and_C0nfused said:Eyewearman said:Helpmytax have asked me for NI numbers to claim back marriage tax allowance Is this a scam or genuine? How can someone claim Marriage Allowance and receive a tax refund?
I think you are getting the applicant and recipient mixed up.

The only person who has mentioned a refund is you. You claim it (or pay someone to claim it on your behalf), your partner gets the allowance.Dazed_and_C0nfused said:MeteredOut said:

The OP said 'claim back', that is, in itself, then being/meaning refunded.0

Not really. But, if you want to convince yourself thats wha the OP meant, go for it.Catsacor said:The OP said 'claim back', that is, in itself, then being/meaning refunded.
Anyway, the OP has their answer. If they want to get a refund, they can do the claim back themselves.0 -

You still haven't explained how someone can claim back a refund in relation to Marriage Allowance?MeteredOut said:

Marriage Allowance is something one person (let's say person A) applies for and they either pay the same or more tax.
The other person (person
, who has to do absolutely nothing, automatically receives the benefit of the other persons application and gets whatever refund is due.
Person B cannot claim Marriage Allowance, if they could chaos would reign with one spouse being able to obtain a tax refund whilst deliberately making the other person pay more tax.
The whole system is based on the person giving up some of their Personal Allowance being in control.1
