A lot more hassle and cost, the £2,600 deposit you should get back, but the £302 court fee and cost of getting a solicitor involved to help drafting the legal basis of the claim and to assist with formal service of the order probably would not if the company does the sensible thing and pays immediately, using evidence of payment to get the claim dismissed. Winding up orders are normally used by large creditors with 5 or 6 figure sums owed and a genuine belief that the debtor is technically insolvent.

A not insignificant bonus was; the original FOS decision allowed Halifax/ IWeb to pay the award over several years through to 2027. Because they hadn’t complied, the total sum became immediately payable.
