Property management agency kept charging me rent after i left

So ask them on what basis they believe that you owe them any money,
No, it doesn't affect your credit score, because that is a fictitious thing anyway. Only if you get a CCJ would it show on your credit history. What you presumably won't get at present is a reference. No free lunch, and no free laptop

From what i remember it was stipulated that I must provide the property rental agency with a notice period of four weeks before canceling the tenancy agreement. And failing to notify them 4 weeks in advance would result in losing my bond, wich is fine.
I was making bank transfers without standing order. They haven't deducted any funds from me, but they send me an email saying I owe them money.
They can't take any money from my account, unless i send them, but is affecting my credit score i guess and if want to rent something else in future might be difficult.
why did you give them just 2 days notice while the notice period was 4 weeks?
why did you give them just a verbal notice while you seem to have had a "tenancy agreement"? you didnt even send an email or anything else in writing?
you say "They ask me to wait a moment .... i told them i will leave the keys to another tenant, and that's all" ... did they actually accept your notice?

I had an emergency, i thought is fine i will only lose my deposit if i don't give them a 4 weeks notice.Schwarzwald said:

I didn't think it was necessary to send them them something in writing, we spoke manny times over the phone i thought that would be enough. They asked me to wait a moment while they check on computer if my rent was paid up to that date, to not hang up the phone while they are checking, they didn't ask me to wait 4 weeks more, or say if you are going now you will have to pay for another 4 weeks0 -
That's an optional, opt-in scheme. But I agree if you signed up and for some reason subsequently stopped paying your rent, it would reflect poorly on your credit history.grumbler said:

That's a risky way to play things. Always, always, always confirm things in writing!Daniel87 said:

Also to note that your deposit is there so the LL doesn't have to chase you for the money in the event of a minor dispute, but it is not a limit for your liability. If you owe more than the deposit then they would be well within their rights to take you to court for the remainder.

Did the other tenant hand in the keys?
Phone the agency to clarify whether the tenancy is still running and why, or if it has now ended and end date. Make reference to your previous phonecall but it may be that is not relevant. I don't believe it is for the agency to chase keys.
Following your conversation put something in writing. It's always good to put something in writing and better to get written confirmation.0 -
And next time, ask us for advice beforehand...0

You need to tell us on what basis they are still billing you for rent. Did they not accept that you had given notice to quit and agreed to forfeit your deposit due to notice of less than 4 weeks? Why didn't you just give the required four weeks notice and then vacate the property earlier if required?
The reason you need to put everything in writing is to create and audit trails in case just this kind of dispute arises. As it is, you now have no evidence to support your version of events. You can't even prove that you gave notice on date xyz.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I would suggest you look at mitigating their loss of 4 weeks rent - which appears all their interested in and they don't appear to be disputing that you advised them.
- Are they able to fully offset the 4 weeks notice with the deposit alone?
- Did they get someone else in that room within that 4 weeks?

@Daniel87, what does the original tenancy agreement say will happen at the end of the initial fixed term? If it is silent then you will have a statutory periodic tenancy where the minimum notice period is 4 weeks when rent is paid weekly. To be legal your notice to quit must be in writing (I'd be very surprised if your original tenancy agreement said notice over the phone was acceptable), give the correct amount of notice and end on the correct day. Phoning up with 2 days notice scores you zeros across the board. If you have not done so already send your notice to quit to the address for the serving of notices given in your tenancy agreement asap.
