E.ON tariffs
Just wonder what tariffs everyone is on or offered. We are on a fixed 2 v9 at the moment what comes to an end next week.
Offered 12 m v3 now but double the monthly dd. We have a very healthy credit with them
has anyone managed to get any discount from their supplier?

has anyone managed to get any discount from their supplier?I got Next Secure Fixed 12m V1 last month when my 2 year fix ended. They calculated a new DD seemingly based on the predicted cost for my anual usage of something like £160, where I worked out that, taking into account my credit (I had deliberately overpaid to build up a cushion for the new rates and winter), it only needed to be about £135 to hit a zero balance by the end of the contract if my usage remained the same. As it was a bigger reduction than the online account would allow, I emailed them with my explanation and request - they immediately reduced the DD to my suggested amount. So, not exactly a discount, but a more realistic cost.

You can always try to negotiate on the amount of the direct debit if you can make a case that you think it is excessive, but your direct debit is not your bill which will be based on your usage and the unit rates and standing charge. These are not figures you can haggle over.2

Are EOn offering you the option of a refund on your on line account ?
They offered it to me in Mar, but then withdrew it as an online request (I could phone anytime and ask though) they built it into my Apr onwards DD rate. I estimated a credit balance at the time of £5-6 after 12 months.
They dropped DD again in Jul with cap change. But not with Oct similar 8% cut in electric cap - but the facility to request the refund was back on my online account.
My refund last month held onto about 2/3rds of last winter's biggest monthly bill. So got offered about 70% credit back.
If not, they (well EOn) used to allow a small reduction by user request on line in the DD - around 10% iirc - if in credit.
Without knowing the difference in rates and your consumption - its difficult to say whether doubling is reasonable.
But in Apr the calc I used to check was
(Cost of last year's usage at new rates - adjusted credit(*))/12.
As above it seemed to be set to use up all credit - bar about £5 - by end of year.
Which is how I used to set it myself every 6m price change - pre EPG.
(*) Adjusted credit took into account been about 2 weeks of use not yet debited from balance at time of calc and new DD offer sent by them.1 -
I'm with Shell Energy and I don't have a monthly DD set up but pay the bill when it's produced via DD. Would this work for you?
