Dripping pipe to cistern after repair

Hi there
British Gas repaired our cistern through our plumbing cover with them. Unfortunately the repair guy didn't fit a washer on the water pipe leading into the cistern. Consequently the pipe continually dropped until water came through the kitchen ceiling underneath the toilet, tiles came off the bathroom wall because of the damp etc. we didn't notice the leak straight away as the cistern is in an enclosed cupboard. BG came out to repair the leak, but we have some water damage.
can we claim from BG?

I would certainly be complaining to BG, or trying to.  We had exactly the same problem some years ago although fortunately we spotted the problem more quickly and only the bathroom floor was wet.
