Is there any need to shop around for a good price for the assessment? Or do all assessors charge the same?

Given what I have read and seen, I would shop around for someone who will actually look properly at your house and create an accurate EPC. Unless you would benefit from assumptions.0

I'm after the cheapest. I'm getting it because I have to, not because I want one!1

What do you "need" it for?0

Shop around. Prices will vary though not hugely. but for the sake if 5-6 phone calls, why not? Ask about timescales too. Some may be booked up.
As fort trying to establish how they reach their conclusions (assumptions etc) forget it. They wont tell you more than that they follow the process.

Oh, I wonder why the really experienced and thorough EPC assessors left the market, and it's hard to find someone to do a decent job...RHemmings said:Given what I have read and seen, I would shop around for someone who will actually look properly at your house and create an accurate EPC. We are selling the family home. From what all the agents tell us nobody gives a s#1t about an energy certificate. Everybody only gets one - like me - because we have to.
So if I can get one for a fiver, I will!0 -
Many agents will arrange one for you for free if you sign up with them to sell the property.
Just beware the small print - if you later decide they are useless and switch agents they'll charge you (hugely!) for your 'free' EPC....1 -
I give a something about the EPC. It's one of the first things I look at. Trouble is: many of them are full of assumptions.GaryBC said:We are selling the family home.
