    Short Answer:  Nope

Medium Length Answer.   Nope, It's your responsibility to keep the car taxed not DVLA's to remind you.  If you can evidence that another party delayed/prevented the delivery of a reminder then you could try suing them but that's a very outside chance of a win.
I need to think of something new here...

Are you sure they have your current address?

I have a much more revolutionary idea.

Get a piece of paper and a pen (or a pencil). Write on the paper:

    Tax Expires:  dd/mm/yyyy

    MoT Expires:  dd/mm/yyyy

    Insurance Expires: dd/mm/yyyy

Get some Sellotape and stick the piece of paper in a prominent position inside the car.

Better still, cut it into a circular shape and stick it in the bottom LH corner of the windscreen.

FWIW the tax reminder email (and SMS/text) worked fine for me - received mine today (tax expires this month) and tax renewal completed easily online. (£0 cost - currently - as I have an EV).

  • Pay your car tax -  vehicle excise duty - by direct debit, then it will always be current and there's nothing to remember.

Second the above, and when you do pay it by DD, you still get an email every year.
