HSBC - how to disable the digital key?

Comments
-
When my old first direct secure key died I requested a new one. While waiting for it to arrive I installed the app. Previously I had done all my banking via web browser.
Once arrived I removed the app then phoned fd to tell them I wanted to go back to using the key. This was something they had to set up
You cannot have both working at the same time so it is either use an app with the digital key or ditch the app and use the secure key.
Appreciate the latter might not work in respect of your credit card.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid0 -

Appreciate the latter might not work in respect of your credit card. Thanks - this is somewhat irritating. I had an HSBC credit card back 2 years ago and this didn't require the app so fingers crossed it is still possible to have & to manage credit card without the app!

Relative has HSBC current account and credit card and manages both via secure key.
You can't use both app and key.

You can't use both app and key.
What you cannot do is to use both for generating codes.
I'll check later this week and confirm1 -
You can have the HSBC app and the physical key, but you can't have both the physical key, and the digital key (which is on the app, when it's been activated). You'll have to get them to deactivate the digital key, and send you a new physical one.0

IIRC, my friend has an app and a key.

He still seems to think that it's one or the other. In fact, he chose to uninstall the HSBC app.
This differs from his experience with Santander. He has the Santander app and on line access through his desktop.
If logged in via internet banking and wishing to make a payment, he is instructed to get a code via the app but there is also a button to press if he cannot do this - he assumes that a code would then be sent via SMS.
I wonder if he and older bnw have misunderstood functionality at HSBC?
I only use on line banking through my macbook (no apps) so can't check.
