The "from your creditors" phrase sounds similar to the scam phone calls which state "this is your bank calling" or "this is bank security department"
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Hi Tim, This is Grace Morgan from CBL ( Collection Bailiffs Limited ). Hope you are doing well. I just would like to tell you that we have got a legal complaint against you from your creditors where you are not making the contractual payments or managing just minimum payments towards them.

So this is why these creditors have approached us in order to get the “CCJ” action against you. So that they can have the attachment of earnings with your income of £464.36 every month for these accounts with your income from this month itself, so that they can cover all the money from your side asap because as per the creditors they gave you enough chance to get the arrangements done through the government help known as an "IVA" but you refused to get that help and now they are looking to have legal action against you.

If you do not want to have any sort of legal proceedings and you are struggling with your financial situation and want to get these debts sorted, you do have "three options" left for yourself from these creditors apart from the CCJ.

If you wish to sort-out these debts. we will transfer you to our help desk team to get your finances back on track.

Hope to get a reply soon from your side.

    Kind Regards!
    Grace Morgan,
    Enforcement Manager

Now the email was from a Gmail account and I was wondering if there's any advice.

    I had replied saying

If you can supply me with the alleged debt and the final payment I allegedly made for this debt.
Reads like scam/phish to me too.

    1) A legal complaint of unspecified nature, no court reference, nothing.
    2) Your creditors. Could you be more vague?
    3) Not making payments, or making minimum payments. Which?
    4) Who puts CCJ in quotes like that? "Real Debt Collectors" do!
    5) Read the italicised sentence aloud and tell me you still have breath in your body. It's badly written garbage.
    6) "Three options" ... again with the weird quotes.
    7) Gmail. Really?

I wouldn't have even replied to this to confirm live-sucker status!

This is just the same line as the "Your unnamed bank, on your Access Visa Master Gold Platinum Probably credit card, a mystery Amazon Charge for $699.99 for iPhone 15 on your account and other foreign transfer of money. If this was not you, disengage your brain and immediately react to this phish, or we will HAVE TO give your money to those bad criminals. To give your money to US instead, press 1"

I'd say obvious scam. Delete. Make sure you don't provide them with any more information and watch out for future attempts as no doubt you will now be on a list of people who reply to scam emails somewhere.

    Do you have any creditors?

What address so this company provide?

Wait till you get court papers..
    Life in the slow lane
  • Anything with grammar of that standard is spam.  Any such so-called "official" communication coming from a gmail address is spam.  The two elements together simply mean a double helping of spam (cue a group of Vikings in a greasy spoon cafe).
Any genuine communication will arrive via an old-fashioned letter dropping onto your doormat.
    Delete and forget.

Nothing "odd" about it being the same amount as the OP's, given it's obviously spam which they're sending to everyone.
  • I have had the same but different name but yet again the same amount
  • I had this scam today, it frightened me because I don't owe anything and I phoned around bailiffs and they said they wouldn't email.
