Glowworm ultimate 40 BF problems

Options
Boiler runs fine for approx 8 mins and there is a click and the burner and pilot light go out. If the boiler is not running the pilot light stays lit.All the radiators get warm in the 8mins the boiler is running. It has had 2 thermocouples fitted a gas valve and a control thermostat and still the fault persists also the flue has been removed and checked. The boiler is very basic in design and there is nothing else left to change. Xmas is coming and its cold any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.

  • Hi

Was the burner pressure checked when the gas valve was changed?

  • Canucklehead thanks for the reply I will check with the boiler engineer.Would low burner pressure cause the boiler to run for 8 mins and go off and if so would low pressure affect the gas fire or gas hob ?

  • HI

Are you saying the boiler has an effect on the fire and hob? Does the hob flame dip down and return or stay down?

  • Hi Corgi Guy

just checked and burner pressure was ok and the hob and gas fire flames are fine and dont dip at all even when the boiler goes out Thanks Martin
  • your problem is a pump sticking or a zone valve sticking. the boiler will heat up and because the water has nowhere to go the boiler will overheat and cut out - these parts need checked out
  • Hi Martin
The water is gravity fed and there are no zone valves, The pump is pumping the water and all the radiators are getting warm when the boiler is actually running. The control thermostat has been removed from the boiler housing to eliminate this in case it was causing false sensing. If the boiler was overheating surely it would shut down until the temperature had reached a safe operating level and the start up again, but the burner and pilot just shut down

    Thanks Martin
