When Should I inform DWP of my new job?

Hi there,
I am currently on JSA (job seekers allowance-new style), however last night I accepted a job offer, I sign the contract on 12th Oct, and start on the 16th Oct.
I am currently on JSA (job seekers allowance-new style), however last night I accepted a job offer, I sign the contract on 12th Oct, and start on the 16th Oct.
I was going to ring DWP today and inform them that I have accepted a job, however a friend said that I should actually wait until the day I sign the contract, in case anything falls through.
P.S. when I do inform them of me having a job, what do they ask when I ring them?
Just because I have accepted a part time job offer, around my area that’s all that there is, I’ve heard that because I’m working 12 hours per week I could still remain on JSA but I don’t know if this is true?

I’d tell them now that you’re starting on 16th.0

I wouldn't tell them until you start anything could happen between now and then
the benefits board will give better advice about working while claiming jsa. But remember you might get universal credit as a top up if you are on low income1 -
Tell them on the day that you start the new job.2

I agree - tell them on the day you actually start. Job offers can be withdrawn at any point.
