Love Holiday's charge for changing a person

Hi,
I recently booked a holiday with Love Holidays and paid in full for 4 people, one person can't make it so I am taking my niece instead, Love Holidays advertise that we need to pay around £25 to change a person but have just come back with a cost of nearly £700 to change it, this is not the airline fee, it is their fee's, they have made it impossible to get in touch to discuss and basically want the money or will do nothing? this seems really unfair considering I have used them lots of times and paid in full, any advise would be really appreciated.

Thanks

No mention of the cost on their help page

    https://www.loveholidays.com/faq/making-a-name-change/

This is the problem with using third parties, Love Holidays arent actually organising the holiday, they are using other operators, and therefore are totally beholden to the other operators name change policies. Book direct next time.

What airline is the package using? Its likely its too far gone to change the name, some only allow a short grace period after booking to correct typos, and the £700 is actually to cover the cost of new flights.
  • thank you @la531983 We are flying with Easyjet, but they have confirmed this isn't to change the flight, we have already paid £100 + £25 to change the person
  • just to confirm Easy jet charged me £100, the £700 is from Love holidays, and we can’t speak to anyone, it cost us a £6 phone call to be told to refer back to manage my booking, I feel like they are not supporting us properly and making it difficult to speak to them

Are you saying that you've paid EasyJet £100 (+£25?) directly to change a name on a flight booking but now Loveholidays also want to charge £700 for something?  If the flights are now in the correct names, what happens if you don't pay Loveholidays anything?

It will be whoever the hotel/accommodation booking is with then who is asking for £700, imo.

Quite possibly, but the question remains: what would happen if it wasn't paid?  If OP has already dealt with the airline directly, it ought to be possible to resolve a name change directly with the accommodation too, if it's necessary at all - I know that some countries require advance registration of visitor details but in general this would be a less rigorous process than airlines....

Often hotels don't even need the guests names, just maybe the lead booker for ID / deposit paying.
    What country is it?

They may have cancelled the original booking and the charge is for a new booking. If not paid, no booking, no accommodation.

The OP really needs to know what the charge is for.
  • Did this get resolved ? Having the same problem currently. I was able to change the flight with TUI for £25 but love holidays want £500+ to change name for hotel !!!!
