Ovo playing silly games?

My account was migrated from Sse to Ovo almost a year ago and after a little bit of their messing around with estimating a closing /opening balance for the two accounts they got the ovo account back on track and I have happily payed each bill in full.
I have smart meters and each bill has been based on either a smart reading, or more recently a manual reading as the smart electric meter isn't submitting them. No estimates involved beyond their habit of estimating a few units to take the bill to midnight on the billing day.
Today I have suddenly had another email confirming my account is moving from Sse to Ovo (This has come into an email alias used almost exclusively for them).
At the same time a balance adjustment has been added to my account putting it over £550 in credit. This has the description "balance adjustment" and no other explanation. This is the same way they moved closing financials from Sse to Ovo last year.
Has anyone seen anything similar and got any ideas what they are doing?

You could ping them an email to query, but it could be almost anything - I transferred from ovo to octopus about a year ago and at one point had a credit, then a few days later a deduction; when I asked it was an adjustment to the starting reading on my account that had been agreed with my old supplier and meant my bills needed recalculating (with the net result being basically the same from what I could tell). Could be something similar here with them just tidying up the accounting between your old SSE account and new ovo account.
A number of suppliers have been having odd things happening recently - Personally I think it's a consequence of taking on so many customers after the collapses and the need to rapidly introduce a number of government interventions. Now things are settling back down and they're squaring away any loose ends/issues that cropped up.

That is what has confused me, we only bought the property three months before the move from Sse to Ovo was instigated, and they had dealt with all the migration meter adjustments before Xmas and the account was seemingly running smoothly.0
