Parking in a disabled bay - Private Car Park

So here goes guys..

To summarise, I quickly nipped for lunch at my local Aldi. I parked in a disabled space to run into the shop for 5 minutes. Yes, I understand this is totally unacceptable and I should be more mindful. However, in my defence nearly half the car park is disabled spaces.

A fine of 100 has been received by BaySentry solutions, reduced to 60 if paid within 14 days. The photographic evidence taken also does not contain my number plate, but i'm not sure this really holds as a defense.

What would you guys recommend? Pay and choke it up to experience?

  • I’m not sure complaining that there are too many disabled spaces is a reasonable defence.

(actually I am sure it’s not)

No sympathy, I'm afraid, but if you read the NEWBIES FAQ Announcement, first post, it will tell you how to begin the process of wriggling out of this.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

In this case, whilst disliking the idea of funding these PPCs a penny, you are bang to rights. Personally, I'd advise pay the discounted amount and learn from the experience. Disabled spaces are not to be used just because they are empty. If you are able-bodied, walk the extra few metres for an extra 20-30 seconds.

  • You haven't got a fine.

In future try not to be so inconsiderate.
