Lloyds and Halifax cashback credit cards are back

They went away for a while and you weren't able to get them but they're back now, with the same 0.25% and 0.50% cashback terms as before.

There's also a new World Elite MasterCard credit card which gives you 0.50% cashback up to £15k spend and then 1% after that, plus Priority Pass and airport security fast track. This card is £15 per month, the others are free.

They basic ones never went away. LBG went through a period of only showing the cards when you did an eligibility check, if you didn't see them then you weren't eligible. It seems like they're now listed on their website again - but I can assure you that every time I've checked both the Halifax and Lloyds Cashback cards were availble (for me).
The World Elite one is new though. It seems incredibly expensive for what it is but perhaps they'll do a rebate for account holders at some point, one to watch. Also seems totally at ends with the Halifax brand position.
  • It never showed up on the eligibility checkers for me. I asked Lloyds a while back and they said they weren't offering it at the time so maybe they briefly took it away.

Anyway, did the eligibility checker thing today and it never showed this card, so I went to the page specifically for this card and clicked the 'apply for this card' button and it took me through, I got approved and it's on its way.

I agree about the World Elite cards, they either need to be cheaper or offer more. They don't even include fee-free foreign transactions.

It's actually incredibly similar to the Santander World Elite card that's been around for a good while now.

But I'd agree with you on the value proposition. The lounge access thing is ok but if you are really enough of a frequent flyer to get enough value from this, you'd either have elite status with an airline already, or you'd probably do better with the Amex Platinum - yes, higher fee still, but a lot more traveller benefits...

Just been accepted for the Lloyds cashback card, given a £3k limit which is on the low side but it’s a free £20 after the first initial £1000 spend ( plus the cashback on that spend) so better than a poke in the eye!
    Best Regards,

Shame you have to wait a whole year to get it.
