Please see screenshot of how I’ve set Growatt battery to charge during cheaper nighttime tariff - we are on 🐙Go.

is this ok as we found that the battery was charging for a minute from the grid at mid nite if the other 2 x time periods were left as 0:00 - 0:00.  We ‘disabled’ them but they always revert to ‘enable’

any advice is welcome as we are new to charging our battery from grid

    Ps we’ve set the battery speed to 75% as this hopefully is less hard on the battery itself

  • Not sure why you're using three slots for 1 period. This is mine.

    That is good idea, as long as the battery will fully charge in the time available at that rate. However, it would be worth checking that the reduced rate doesn't also apply to when you are charging from solar, which may not be advantageous.

    @powerful_Rogue

    have tried before just setting a single time slot but the other 2 we left blank originally kept ‘enabling’ themselves even though they were set to ‘disable’.

    I noticed the other day that the battery was charging from the grid at midnight for about a minute. So that’s why have set each time period.

    hope that makes sense - any ideas on why time slots 2 & 3 would keep enabling themselves?

    That could have been the system syncing with the grid when you saw that for a short time at midnight. I believe all systems do this a few times a day to stay in sync.

    Likely to be an error in the rather dubious ShinePhone app itself. Try using the alternative:
    server.growatt.com
    in a browser

  • 2 and 3 keep enabling themselves because the Growatt software's awful. It's a bug they must know about (all their customers do) but haven't bothered to fix.

    I programme through Solar Assistant now, which is much more reliable. But the settings you've got would work, and your charge from the sun would still be at 100%. I've had the midnight blip before and hadn't linked it to the unused slots turning themselves on. You could be right - I certainly don't think that separating the charge into 3 slots will do any harm.

    @Officer_Dibble - amazing thank you! Will look into Solar Assistant as the issues with shine ohone are frequent. Recently emerged from a 5 day period in which we couldn’t get logged on at all and were travelling at the time. Was annoying to say the least

  • Solar Assistant is a joy to use, however no option to set up charging for some Growatt systems. I have the SPA and no option yet.
