Upgraded to Tesco finest card

I just had a letter telling me I'm being upgraded to Tesco's Finest Platinum card. I never asked for this and don't want it. Naturally its a premium rate number to stop it.
If any of you know this card is there any benefit at all to it if, like me, you pay off each month and want a low credit limit.

Ask if the upgrade entitles you to a new 0% BT offer - you might be able to take advantage of the switch.
The geographic number for Tesco Visa is: 0126 850 80230 -
Hi...
can anyone apply for this or is it by invite only.
i have a Tesco card, had it for nearly 12 months always cleared balance in full....
do u still get the clubcard points too?

I've been researching into getting one of these recently - quick info from memory:
Card issued by Tesco Personal Finance (Royal Bank of Scotland).
It's their "platinum card".
Must earn £20k to own a Finest card.
You get 3 points per £2 spend - rather than the normal Tesco card which is 1 point per £2 spend.
Might be wrong on some of this - it's just from memory - also the tesco site doesn't contain much information about it.
The info can be found on MoneySupermarket.com and Tesco.com0 -
I've been investigating a bit. Tesco credit cards count as clubcards so you get 3 points for £2 spent in Tesco's, 1 point per £2 elsewhere. In the blurb it says 'finest' cardholders get 'extra' points (no details) on spending on Tesco.com. Does that refer to the 3 for 2 or is it more? Either way I don't shop on Tesco.com and I plan to blow this card out.
I think I've been sent it because my signature card needed replacing with chip and pin and they have upgraded me at the same time.
Interestingly I don't qualify on income as I'm just short of 20k, but I'm such a frugal MSE devotee my spending power is that of someone on a bigger salary. Ha ha.

We have this card. Interestingly enough when we first applied for a 'normal' Tesco cc, we were turned down. There was nothing which could have indicated that we were any sort of credit risk to them and so I wasn't a happy bunny.
We (I!) wrote to them and appealed and within 10 days we were sent the Platinum card (which was obviously a 'higher' card than we had applied for, go figure?!)
Anyway, we use it in place of cash and clear it every month- we pay for everything from petrol to dental treatment with it, purely for the Tesco points which as mentioned earlier in the thread are more of a benefit with the Platinum card.
You also get money off vouchers sent for use against their 'Finest' range of food instore.
You get bonus points for using it to pay for your shopping (in Tesco) but at time off writing, I can't find the bumph that tells you how many.Herman - MP for all!0 -
The Tesco Credit Card is a great way to earn Clubcard Points fast! You'll earn 3 points for every £2 spent in a Tesco store and 1 point for every £2 spent everywhere else that you use your card². If you're a Tesco Finest Platinum card-holder you'll enjoy the extra benefit of earning 2 points for every £2 you spend at Tesco.com.
There you go.I know nothing0 -
HI
I just recently applied for this tesco platinum card and to my surprise was declined . No reason for this , good credit score etc
not been declined before for credit cards and only own 4 (one of which is first direct ) which doesnt show on the agency files
wondered whether it is because I have a mint card owned by same company
RBS
anyway I have appealed and if they cant give me a satifactory answer then I would like to speak to one of the under-writers who makes these decisons
has anyone done this before ?Help enough people get what they want and you will automatically get what you want0 -

So 1/2% extra shopping somewhere I don't shop. Hmmm, I don't think so.

Just phoned and told them I wanted to keep the old card and not upgrade.
First they were surprized, then they put me on hold, then they asked why, then they put me on hold again, then they told me only a manager was authorized to stop the upgrade and it would be passed to one and the upgrade stopped ASAP.
Hmmm...

PS. Same thing happened last year with Lloyds. They tried to upgrade my old cash machine only card with some debit/cheque guarantee/hole in the wall card and were surprized that I said no. Must be catching...Xbigman's guide to a happy life.

I have a Tescos Credit Card (Visa) and was offered an upgrade to a Platinum card - but its with Mastercard. Apart from the tesco.com extras, is there any benefit to me. Also the downside is have to re-sort out some direct debits which is pain in bot.0
