My son rents from a relative (more distant than a Grandparent). It was just a case of him having the right set of circs in the right location at the right time that led to it and is a situation that suits both parties. I'm guessing this must have been the case with your parents because they could have sold up at that point and chose not to
  • You are of a generation that is amongst the first who are inheriting, our parents didnt, well certainly not if middle/working class. My grandparents on mums side had nowt to pass on for sure. Grandmother on dads side had her house - it went to my Auntie - one of 5 - no one questioned it of thought anything of it, was granny's house to leave to whoever she wanted

My mum remarried to a man who had a daughter. He died intestate , mother copped the lot. Thats hardly "fair" either

Esp as shes written a will leaving to me and youngest sister leaving eldest sister, step sister and step granddaughter completely out - thats not "fair" either

My aunt Pat who had no direct family, just mum as her niece, chose to give to the RNLI rather then give to mum

Me and Mr L dont have children together, he has two, if he survives me they cop for the lot, is that fair? If I survive him, Im giving whatever is left to charity , is that fair?

Mr L's dad left his in varying amounts to his kids - not equal, one was left out altogether.

We cant tell those who are leaving wealth behind who to leave it to, its their choice

I came into this world with nowt, Ive worked for every penny I no longer have, I never expected or relied on inheritance, and I doubt very much if Ill be leaving a lot of anything when I go
