New tilt and turn window leaking

Windows were replaced at the start of the year. It's been wet +++ outside last couple of days - noted hall curtains wet this evening so thought someone had left window open but it was shut. I've been monitoring last couple of hours...leaving tissue paper on sill....drying around the frame and note that there is moisture at the handle end, when I feel around the closed window. Tissue paper is wet also. It's not condensation. The old hall window was ancient but never let anything in so why would a brand new window be doing this?

Any cold draughts coming in around the edge of the frame ?
That would be enough to cause a cold spot, leading to condensation. A thermal imaging camera would help to diagnose any problem. You could also use the camera to do a full survey of the house and identify other areas that would benefit from insulation.

We had tilt and turn windows and replaced a few as they were old. Even the newer ones would whistle
in the wind and could feel a draft on them, we've since swapped them out for standard and much happier; even trying to adjust them they couldn't be sealed.

That said shouldn't be this bad

Any chance of a photo next time, please? Condensation is usually very distinctive in appearance.
It's very unusual for modern windows to allow water through even if badly fitted! Their design usually diverts any water attempting to do this, and it ends up safely at the bottom trough which has drain holes.
I guess, tho', if there is a very windy day and it's whistling through, some rain could be driven through as well, but I think that would be unusual.
I suspect it's condie, but obviously don't know.
    Photo?

When I feel around the bottom left hand corner (a third of way along horizontally and a quarter way up the way), I can feel wetness. I felt a towel in that area overnight, and it's soaked this morning. I remember complaining that the window wasn't square, when it was fitted - could this be the issue? The fitter said - it's the opening, not the window but if this was the case, why did the older window not let water in?

Could it be the windows working well?

If they are sealed off then there will be no ventilation, around the windows tends to be a colder spot where water condenses.

Any indicators of excessive humidity in the house? Drying clothes on radiators, no extraction in the kitchen or bathroom, condenser tumble dryer?

No humidity as use separate vented dryer. Most windows were open last night (other than hall window) as had been cooking. The way to test properly would be to use a water hose on the window on a dry day and if it let water in, then it's faulty? It's been fine, other than last couple of days. It was fine cold months at start of year and during thunder storms etc. Any condensation is usually on the outside of windows, not inside, which I thought was a sign that they were working well. If it is a seal issue, can that be remedied?
  • hope this isn't a daft question but why aren't you just going back to the installer/manufacturer as it's been less than a year?
  • Hi,
for the curtains to get wet were they in contact with window glass or frame?

Even if no curtains there, there is water gathering at the bottom left corner only - opening side.
