From the NS&I announcement:
"Postal applications received for a reasonable period will be honoured."
Any idea what they might mean by that? What is a reasonable period?
Postal application they received today, Friday?
Next Monday? Next week? Two weeks?

I'd assume (without any evidence!) that they'd probably mean those postmarked before the announcement....3

... or just after, as in 'already posted but not yet postmarked' at time of announcement.

Thinking this through, the deadline might be a little more generous. Imagine somebody posted their application second class on Wednesday night - there's a strong chance that's still on its way. NS&I would have to be pretty hard to reject an application like that.
Also bear in mind that a sizeable percentage of letters aren't postmarked for various reasons. Even some printed postal labels don't have a date on them. Maybe it's more likely NS&I look at the date the application was signed?
I think I'm answering my own question here!0
