Duty Free EU Purchases

I can bring back £390 of purchases from France (for example), reclaim French sales tax and avoid duty.

Does anyone know when and how this maximum value is increased, for example, to take account of inflation?

its been £390 for a very long time so it wont change due to inflation

  • The other part of the question is…does the £390 value include the French sales tax or it is once the tax has been removed (i.e. the value of the goods NOT the goods plus tax)?

Oh and as an aside, when i use to deal with tax reclaims going out of the country, the money you got back was seldom the money you paid they will often take a chunk of the rebate in admin fees

Its not inflation linked, remember that there are inner limits for alcohol etc and that alcohol etc still counts towards the overall maximum of £390

Alcohol etc stand separately from the £390 duty free allowance
