Getting an error message when trying to watch ITV from Budapest - worked earlier this week

Hi,

I am on holiday in Budapest at the moment and I wish to watch the rugby world cup matches that are being shown on ITV tomorrow. Earlier this week I was able to access ITVX programs by using Mozilla VPN set to a London server.

However, I have now tried the same, to watch live ITV (Tipping Point) and I get the error "sorry this show is not available right now" error code 01-01 and the option to click retry. Click retry gives the same error.

Anyone know what might be amiss and what I can do?

Thank you.

  • Done the cleared cookies and refreshed the browser thing?  Is there another UK link on the VPN you can try?

Sometimes when the streaming service gets an influx of requests from the same IP address they block it.

Might be worth setting up a second VPN to increase your chances of watching the rugby.

I had mixed results using NordVPN from Spain last month to watch BBC and Sky Sports.

    Good luck for tomorrow.
  • Might be more fun to try and track down a bar that's showing the rugby. I bet there is one, even if it turns out to be one of those dreadful faux Oirish Pub places.

Good lateral thinking there. Thank you

Thanks for the thought. I had changed from London to Manchester.
I'm embarrassed to say I hadn't thought of clearing cookies.

Since then I have disconnected from the hotel WiFi and reconnected and it worked again.

  • Save your money and set up a VPN server at home, never understand why people pay for VPN services for travelling abroad when you can run one at home for free and most likely get better results because your endpoint won't be an abused IP address that thousands of other people are using.

Some folk want a simple solution without any great tech input.

Sounds like you are sorted - good.
