Parking Ticket - IPSERV (Now with BW Legal at Claim stage)

Hi
I received a parking ticket back in December 2022 and was away from home when I got the initial letter regarding the fine.
I received a parking ticket back in December 2022 and was away from home when I got the initial letter regarding the fine.
The parking ticket was in relation to overstaying the initial grace period (15 mins I believe). During this time I was waiting on some friends and struggling to pay using their online app as the app wouldn’t let me change my car from BMW to VW (I got a new car and transferred my private number plate so it was the same). I ended up paying anyway without changing the car type. I ended up saying for 1:58 hours and paid for 2:00 hours.
I wrote to the parking company (Ipserv) and re-iterated that the car park is poorly lit and maintained and there were few signs which were not lit (it was dark during my stay). I also mentioned the issue I had with the app and the reason for overstaying the grace period whilst attaching my parking receipt for the time spent.
Of course, they didn’t accept this appeal and it’s now with BW legal who are now likely to take me to court. I haven’t responded to them at all and now I’m unsure whether to pay it and avoid the hassle as I’m busy as it is or to try to fight it because it’s ridiculous.
What would you guys suggest? I haven’t got time to request a SAR and I haven’t formed a defence, no court date yet.
thanks!

I would also like to point out their ridiculous costs mentioned in the threatening letters they keep sending me. What is the likelihood of them winning and me being required to pay the £200/£300 they claim I will owe. Also if I did lose, am I right in saying that I would have time to pay and avoid a CCJ against my credit file?0

Hello and welcome.
Have you received a County Court Claim Form?
If so, what is the Issue Date on it?
If you have filed an Acknowledgment of Service, upon what date did you do that?1 -
Hi, it has not got that far yet. I received a letter of claim from BW Legal which expires on Sunday. They threaten taking me to court if I don’t respond or pay up by then. I’m a noob with all this so please pardon me.0

The first few paragraphs of the second post in the NEWBIES thread explains how to react upon receipt of a Letter of Claim.Jj00500 said:Hi, it has not got that far yet. It would be worth your while to spend a little time reading that post on the NEWBIES thread.3 -
This'll be dead easy to defend. Just read the NEWBIES thread in readiness.Jj00500 said:Hi, it has not got that far yet. I received a letter of claim from BW Legal which expires on Sunday.
