If you buy 16 items, all on "4 for 3" offers" and 12 items cost £10 and 4 cost £1, the checkout will automatically give the 4 lowest items free so you would save a total of £4.
However, if you ran the 4 x £1 items through first, paid, and then ran the 12 x £10 items through on a separate transaction, you would save a total of £31.
Hardly fair that someone is saving an extra £27 over someone who is buying the exact same items, purely based on the way they choose to pay!I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. With Tesco, you're more likely to buy in volume, and if the signs for frozen curries aren't near the signs for garlic bread, you wouldn't necessarily know it’s one joint offer.2 -

If a frozen item has a clubcard discount, and I buy 4 of that item, I do not think you get a double discount ie 4 for 3 at the lower price. Labeling in store for each item either has a clubcard discount label or a 4 for 3 discount label. Am I correct?

I bought ice lollies at a reduced clubcard price and got them as my free cheapest 4th item. I was able to get much posher ones the the cheap ones I had planned on!0

On Tesco's current 4 for 3 I was shopping yesterday and picked only one of their products, 100g box of Bisto powder @ £2.60 each. When it went through the till it totalled £8.17, by my reckoning I had been overcharged by 37p and headed for the customer service desk. After a bit of fuss I got the refund, but really, this is elementary maths and shouldn't be too difficult. My wife didn't want to fuss but when you multiply up the amount of people who buy this offer then the figures start to get massive in Tesco's favour. I'll be keeping a very close eye on Tesco from now on.2
