Tesco's "4 for 3" offer on ALL frozen products - TAKE CARE!!

This is normal for all these 4 for 3 and 3 for 2 offers though. The cheapest items are free whether you buy 4 items or 8. I agree it's annoying though. I order my shopping from Tesco online and get it delivered. Because of this offer though I did walk to my local one to buy 4 of the more expensive frozen items I needed, otherwise my bags of veg would have been the free items. Of course Tesco know this will happen with most people, it would be more helpful if they reduced all the individual products instead.2

The opening poster makes perfectly valid comments, something I've thought about myself.
Another question about the offer, if you buy 5 or 6 frozen products, which 4 products does the offer apply to?0 -
You would get the cheapest of the 5 or 6 free.1

Paying for each group of items separately will guarantee you get the best discount provided each item in the group is similarly priced although I`m not sure this is absolutely necessary eg in the recent 3f2 cooking sauces offer I grouped 3 sauces at £1.20 on the belt, then some general items, then another group of 3 sauces at 47p, then something else etc etc. The 3 items at £1.20 immediately received the £1.20 discount and the 3 items at 47p received the 47p discount ie. the best discounts were applied without having to do separate "shops"

In most retailers the till works it out so that you can't get a better deal by splitting the transaction. If you bought 12 items on 4 for 3, you would get the 4th, 8th and 12th free.
If this isn't the case for this offer, it's poor on Tesco's part. Though it's much more likely to be an oversight in the programming of the till than a deliberate rip-off.0 -
