Beware: OVO boiler cover charges twice for the first month
I took out boiler cover with OVO on 14/09 and they charged me twice in September. When I queried this I couldn't believe the response:
If this is an example of their customer support, I'd hate to depend upon them if my boiler breaks down.
Thank you for your email.
As per your welcome letter your 1st payment of the policy was 14 Sep 2023 then on the 24th of every month thereafter beginning 24th September 2023.
A copy of the welcome letter is attached below for you reference.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind Regards
If this is an example of their customer support, I'd hate to depend upon them if my boiler breaks down.

What is the monthly cost and how much did they charge you on the 14th and 24th September?0

I'm guessing - you would have to check - that your policy would subsequently end on the 15th of a month (i.e. you wouldn't pay in the last month) so it would all equal out?
Though I agree it's less than ideal for anyone budgeting.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.1 -
Anyone experience of their “call outs” for a breakdown….were they prompt ….efficient? Currently with another provider who havnt been very good and as I currently get my gas/elec from OVO considering a change to them0

The double charge turned out to be my fault (in a way) since you can choose what day of the month your payment is taken. They took an immediate charge of £17 on the 14th, and since I chose the 25th as a subsequent payment date, they charged me again on the 25th. Not what I expected.
The annoying thing was that they didn't explain why this happened, and gave no indication it would be sorted at the end of 12 months.Wearing my other one today.0 -
