A couple of years ago I had £357000 invested in a SIPP...it has been falling rapidly and is losing £2000 a day. At the moment it stands at £260000. Should I get out mnow and convert to cash ?

Seems a large loss. What were you invested in - all bonds and no equities maybe?

you might want to say what the columns are.

That is a lot of different 'things' to be invested in. Who defined the portfolio?

If I was you I would edit that list and remove all the superfluous info, add some spaces between elements and make it clearer to read and interpret.

For example it looks like you have GBP30,412.4830,372.5739.910.13 worth of WS Canlife Sterling Liquidity from the last line which is obviously nonsense.

Is this a DIY portfolio or is there an adviser in the background that set this up?


The reason I ask is that it seems a lot more complicated than most people would have for a 6 figure pot.

The list of funds is long and there are some very high risk funds in there along with some areas that have had their worst performance in over 100 years (a result of the boom from 2008 unwinding over 2022/23).

For most people, 2023 has been a positive year on the stockmarket side but a negative on the gilts/bonds side.    Depening on your weighting to one or the other, you could be looking at a double digit profit or a double digit loss.

Unfortunately, that wall of unformatted text makes it impossible to say what your weightings are.

Possibly if you mean some of the funds.

If you mean get it all out of the SIPP in a lump - definately not. Only 25% would be tax-free (assuming you are over 55) the rest would be added to your income for the year and taxed, in this case at a pretty high level.

If you are under 55, then it can't be taken out (only transferred to another pension) and if anyone has told you it can, that would be a scam / illegal.
