Has anyone tried this 3rd-party Quooker scale control cartridge replacement?

The scale control plus on our Quooker 3XCHR is beeping again to indicate that we need to replace the cartridge (at a cost of £80). The last one has been installed about 15 months.
At this rate, the Quooker scale control is costing us around £5 per month.
A quick Google search unearthed this alternative:

It says that it will last 6 months (whereas the Quooker lasts 15 months from experience). I was wondering whether anyone had tried one of these, or alternatively can recommend a decent lower-priced alternative to the Quooker cartridge?
(I've looked at a video showing how to descale a Quooker manually and it doesn't look like something that I'd be comfortable doing every year).
