The fitter may also have just registered it with Building Control. The requirement being to meet regs which can be achieved via Fensa and certas

if over 10 years, wont really matter
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

If you believe the patio door is still under warranty (or guarantee) then ask the vendor if you can see the certificate. Apart from older units "blowing", the main concern with PVCU glazing is that if it replaced timber windows which did not have lintels above then steel or concrete lintels should have been installed before the PVCU units were fitted
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Mine have a date stamped on the watsit between the panes
Dates marked on the sealed units (probably*) relate to the date of manufacture of the sealed unit, which isn't necessarily the same as the date the windows were made - e.g. if replacement sealed units have been installed.

*The date on the watsit (aka "spacer bar") could be when the spacer bar was manufactured... which could be quite some time before the sealed unit was made.

The uPVC extrusions making up the frame and sashes are also likely to have a manufacturing date on them... but possibly on the outer periphery of the frame (so hidden by the walls) or on the inside of the sashes (so hidden by the sealed unit), so not necessarily visible without doing some work.
  • Thanks for all the responses, I think I was worrying about nothing but I will ask the vendor at some stage.
  • I recently had a window replaced, and the certification thingy came from a body called NAPIT? I was surprised it wasn't FENSA, as that was the only one I'd heard of previously.
