i had an email from gov.uk about tax, so i logged into my gov.uk account and seen i did have a message , its saying i went over my personal tax allowance for 2022 - 2023 and i owe X amount in tax, it says itll take this over the next 12 months , doesnt say when itll start to take this tho? or i can make a one of payment and pay it now, whats the chances that if i pay it now, theyll end still taking it from my wages inaway by changing my tax code. i would rather pay it of now and be done with it but dont want to deal with then having to chase money  ive over paid

PAYE deductions via tax code adjustment would apply during the 2024/25 tax year - if you make a one-off payment and they still try to collect 2022/23 unpaid tax via PAYE coding then you can challenge this, but bear in mind that they'll usually assume that your savings income will be the same for each year unless advised otherwise, so they'll work on the basis that you'd have a similar liability for taxable interest income in both 2023/24 and 2024/25....
