EDF have published new rates for their EDF Essentials fixes (05/10/23).

Headline - check your rates ... small changes to previous fixes which may be better or worse dependent on single/dual fuel, single/dual(E7) rate electricity, region.

You can find the offers from the online dashboard by selecting 'Change Tariff' and 'Stay with my current payment method'. Two offers are shown ... 31st October 2026 and 31st October 2024.

I am in the Eastern region, electricity only, economy 7 (E7) and 'pay whole of bill monthly' (variable direct debit - VDD). Day (peak) down, Night (off-peak) up.
Oct 26: day 41.97p night 9.00p SC 44.03p
Oct 24: day 41.98p night 9.01p SC 44.03p
inc. VAT

How does that work out for your particular split of electricity?

That off peak rate is drifting, albeit only a penny.     For me with my circa 70% off peak use, I am pleased I fixed in August, which was a bit of a gamble but with hindsight, now appears to have been the right thing.

On both new essentials fixes the night rate has gone down and the day rate stayed the same for the Midlands region. Glad I cancelled my Sep24v2 fix within the cooling off period after seeing how much the night rate dropped for 1st Oct standard variable

    Good question.

I am currently 67% day, 33% night, but that will significantly change during winter (+ cold periods)  and I anticipate overall my yearly split will be 40% day, 60% night.

I am still on the standard variable tariff (SVT) day 39.92p night 8.57p SC 44.03p, I expect the downside (increases) to be limited by future Ofgem price caps.

@dunstonh made the wise choice as per usual (he's not a gambler ... but I am :D and I enjoy the ride anyway ;) ).
