Boiler Repair

There's some similar posts but I prefer to put my specific situation up for comment.
Boiler error code appeared and we got an engineer out who spent a lot of time diagnosing the issue....he decided it was the PCB, which I understand is one of, if not the most expensive parts.....295 I paid to get the part installed.....
The next day no power was getting to the boiler and he came round to discover a fuse was blown which he replaced. Stated the boiler up and it looks the PCB went again....
Currently the engineer has spoke with the manufacturer and he's possibly seeking a one off payment to the manufacturer to come and fix it.
It's clear there was a misdiagnosis and the new part broke again because of this.
What should I expect from the engineer?
Can I refuse to pay any more costs as a consumer?
What's the right thing to do in this scenario?
All comments welcome.....

He failed to diagnose what caused the PCB to fail in the first place.
You cant just replace the PCB and hope for the best, you need to test all the parts connected to the PCB, the fan, pump, etc could be at fault blowing the PCB, these parts need disconnected and checked to rule them out. You often find one of them is the culprit.
