Just a question, my wife had breast cancer 6 years ago, been clear for 5 years, is this still a existing condition?
Why am I being asked to pay an extra premium?

Did you book the holiday and buy the insurance 7 years ago? If not then yes it's pre-existing.
You need to read exactly what the question is, some may only ask about conditions you've had symptoms of, medicine for or Dr appointments about in the last X years rather than all time. Unfortunately those that do take this approach often have a separate "at any time" question for certain issues which typically include heart issues and cancer.
You are being asked to pay more premium as their statistical analysis shows that those who've had cancer are more likely to make a claim than someone who has never had cancer.0 -
I had a non recurring cancer removed 10 years before applying for travel insurance but one company would not cover me because of that.
the question was have you ever had cancer?
Another company did cover me with no increase.0 -
You need to read the questions carefully. Some insurers ask if you have ever had xyz and others ask if you have had in the past number of years.
