I am looking for a heater to heat a 3mX7m conservatory. It needs to be able to maintain the heat for a few hours at a time rather than ll day. Which type would be best and cheapest to run? Hope someone can help me as there are lots of different types and I don't want to spend my money on the wrong one. Thanks!

For a quick warm up I would go for a fan heater, but one 3 KW heater will use the same amount of power as any other 3 KW heater.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

in the past ive found the electric dimple (oil filled) heaters to be very good. get the one with the stat so that you can set the temp req and save money.Get some gorm.0

That's a large conservatory, wouldn't it be possible to have your central heating extended so you could have a radiator or 2 in there? I'm sure it would be the best long term solution. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
We rent our home and the conservatory has no heating at all. We use it as an extra space for the kids in the evening and its freezing out there! We were borrowing a heater from a friend but they needed it back - fair enough - so before we go and buy one, just thought i'd check in here0

You can get a convector heater quite cheaply, many now come with a 'turbo' fan to circulate the heat and warm up the room faster, like a fan heater would, but a more permanent and safer solution.
Get a 2 to 3kW heater to heat up the room quicker than a 1kW one. As a conservatory is not well insulated, the heat may be lost at the rate it is produced, then a 2 or 3kW would cost more to run, but a 1kW would not be able to maintain a comfortable temperature. Often the higher power heaters have a power switch anyway, allowing around 1kW or full power output to be selected, so you have the choice.
Avoid the cheap halogen heaters as they get very hot and are not safe around children.0 -
