Travel insurance

Options
Just looking for some advice really! I recently tried to claim on my travel insurance for expenses occurred due to a cancelled flight  (the airline would not cover these) and my insurance company has denied this claim as my flight was not a direct flight?! I have never heard of this but it seems ridiculous? Has anyone else come across this?
Thank you

Would help to have more details.

There are some policies that for delay etc they only cover the flight from/to the UK so if you have a multi leg journey its only that one leg that's covered for these risks and if its on time but subsequent legs (or prior if you have an internal flight before the international one) is delayed then you have no cover.

Tends to be limited to more budget policies/ those sold to people who buy on price rather than quality.
