Wife needs tablet replacement

The wifes 6 year old Samsung tablet is in need of replacement
She doesn't want to spend any more than about £250
It must be reasonably fast (4Gb?) , have a good clear screen (11inch +) and decent sound
it must also have a good battery life and quick charging
What is recommended ?
Lenovo Tab P12 is no longer available LENOVO Tab P12 12.7" Tablet - 128 GB, Storm Grey

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

You can have a look at Xiaomi Pad 6.
Xiaiomi recently doing a deal for Xiaomi 13T pro + Xiaomi Pad 6 around £665.
People selling the pad on facebook marketplace right now for £250 - 300

    I can't comment on speakers...

Forgot to mention, I own a Honor pad 8, which was release in Aug 2022. Grade B is only £135 at CEX. The speakers is really good.

Lenovo are rumoured to be stopping tablet production.

I have the Levovo tab 11 pro (gen 2) which I got during one of Lenovos periodic "sales" for less than Argos were selling for - around £400 IIRC.

Keep an eye out, there is Amazon Prime day and Black Friday coming up and they always raise the prices before then so as to be able to reduce them....

The OLED screen and dolby atmos sound are really good for watching video and listening to music. It has a decent amount of memory and is reasonably quick.

It doesn't have a fingerprint reader, so no online banking, unless you can remember passwords or trust facial recognition.

Lenovo technical support is dire. There are some problems that the keep claiming will be fixed "when Android 13 comes out...." which may be before 2026...  (most annoying is you have to swipe away all the notifications one by one, the "clear all" button just isn't there, and screen casting doesn't work)

EDIT: Talking of Prime Day, the massively overpriced Amazon Fire Max 11 should be on offer at a more sensible price, they are not bad if you don't mind being restricted to the amazon store rather than Play store.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Currently £170/210 for 64/128GB models, down about £90. It's apparently Prime Big Deal Days on Oct 10-11, unclear if these prices will be reduced at that time.

Those are more reasonable prices for a tablet that advertises Amazon services all the time!

The fire 10HD I have is pretty good for the money, obviously no where near as good as the Lenovo, but it was a quarter of the price! I paid £109 for it about 12 months ago.

  • May not be relevant to @MouldyOldDough 's original post so apologies but does anyone know if it is still possible to add the Google Play Store to the latest Fire tablets? I've heard elsewhere that Amazon are tightening their proprietary grip on their products, I know that Amazon books are now an utter sod to add to anything but a Kindle reader.

Over on r/kindlefire they report that you can still install the play store, but apps that need it crash frequently.
Also the fire max 11 can't screencast either.

The fire hd10 I have is fine for media consumption, which is all I use it for. I reckon the fire max would be very good value at £150 for the 128GB, so they still need to drop a bit yet.
