Uber Eats Complaint

Hi

Had anybody had any success in getting a refund from Uber Eats? My pizza spent 55 minutes sitting on the counter awaiting collection by a delivery person. 2 riders rejected the delivery and the 3rd actually did the job.
It arrived stone cold, so I threw it in the bin.

So far the chat people have been most unhelpful, not answering questions and providing copy and paste replies.

If you fully understood the situation you might re-think adding you unhelpful opinion.

If I wanted to cook my own meal I'd go to Aldi and buy ingredients.

Did you contact the restaurant concerned who are at fault for not keeping the food heated until collected for delivery?

Yes, I've been successful getting a refund from Uber Eats.  I had tepid food and a wrong item sent.  Sent them evidence of the wrong item, told them about the tepid order and they refunded the bill.

1st point of contact should always be where food came from.

You’re not you when you’re hungry.

But in all seriousness - contact the pizza place first is the best advice. Too late now. Can try and appeal to get some money back - but UE will rarely refund the full amount to you for cold pizza.

As sucky as it is - should’ve just reheated it.

    Reheating isn't always doable.
Ordering food is at a premium precisely for the convenience - you may be out and about, at a business premises, wrangling kids / meetings making it hard to attend to an oven, moving in and not have crockery / plugged in ovens, etc etc.

More than the cold food, the hours wait would have been more disruptive for me - what if you had to be somewhere else, or planning to sleep by then, or hungry and ate something else while waiting etc etc.

All in, I'd say it would be reasonable to refund 75-100% of the cost, as the value of late, cold food is very small when most of the original charge was for the convenience which is now gone.

But the refund should come from the restsurant who should have a system of keeping food heted until collected.
