Octopus Estimated Useage

Hi my estimated usage for electricity is £21K+ on a four bedroomed house. Have contacted Octopus on numerous occasions to get this sorted as obviously it is massively over estimated. This makes it difficult when comparing best tariffs!  Anyone else have the same problem??

Did you buy your house from cannabis grower?

How long have they been estimating and what are the  actual readings you have been submitting each month?

And this is why you should keep your own record of the usage, and submit them.

But is it actually getting readings, given they stated estimated. Then again Annual usage is always estimated So, How long have you been in the house?

Check you bills. Does the readings match up?

Obviously they don’t if you are getting estimated readings.

    It  may have been once.

Read your meters today and give them to Octopus. How do they compare with the Estimates.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

    Do you have a pool?
It could be something as simple as there was a lot of electricity used in the last month - heating/cooling put to extreme to make it more appealing to potential customers etc. so if the seller reached £1000 in one summer month - this may have screwed the numbers.

I find Octopus recently quite problematic, switched to smart meter few months back and still haven't been charged for the period of the last 2 weeks when on old meter - been chasing them every month and the same response - we're working on it..

Just check your actual weekly usage and multiply by 52 (you have gas, so not big difference in costs in winter).

The chart shows you using something like 80kWh if electricity per day.
That is 10x the amount used by a typical household.
    Do you have a pool?
Unless the meter is wrong, there is something in your household consuming huge amounts of electricity.
Can you tell us more about your house - size, location, heating system, any unusual features (hot tub, pool, you have a glassmaking hobby furnace ...)

Looks like it's per months not per day. Seems a relatively normal amount to me.
